Felicia Gilman
I am an enthusiastic paper cutting artist in Santa Cruz, California. I love both the delicate intricacies of the art form, as well as the quiet meditative nature of the process. I appreciate the way a single sheet of paper can be transformed with my X-ACTO blade to express my deepest sentiments. Cutting paper involves a great deal of problem solving and sometimes mistakes, but those can be the best parts of the process. My work is a narrative of my relationship between memory and loss, protection and security. I strive to make the commonplace and familiar into something extraordinary.
The last few years I have been working on incorporating my deep appreciation for immigrants into my work. Migration is such a necessary and important part of the story of humanity on this planet, and I feel a deep commitment to support those embarking on this endeavor.
